This maker space was definitely a favorite. The students were given a blank game board and a deck of cards. They had to create a game. Write specific instructions, how to keep score, make game pieces, and create a board with challenges. The last 20 minutes of Maker Space, we switched and played each others games.

The students worked together to design a house that would keep the 3 little pigs inside (cotton balls and stand up to the big bad wolf (hair dryer) blowing from 36 inches, 24 in, 12 in, and 2 in away. The students worked together making a spool car. They tried different rubber bands to see which will cause their car to travel faster. Students worked to build the tallest free standing structure with only raw spaghetti, string, marshmallow, and a yard of tape. The students were given a box of sugar cubes and told to build and igloo. They worked in groups of 3-4.
We connect, or tried, our Rube Goldberg. We also found another video to inspire the kids. Our 1st project!!!!!!! We are creating a Rube Goldberg around the maker space. The kids all have a section which they will eventually connect. We started by showing the video below. |
